Funeral homes and monument dealers mark up caskets and headstones by 300 to 500 percent on average. Most families never find that out, because the one time they're buying, they're grieving, and nobody shops around at a moment like that. That's not an accident of the market. It's the business model.
RestingDove exists to close that gap. We research what memorial products actually cost, across funeral homes, monument companies, and direct-to-consumer sellers, and we write it down plainly with real numbers and real sources. We tell you what's optional and what's just upsold. And we tell you about your legal right, under the FTC Funeral Rule, to buy a casket or urn from anyone you choose, plus where that federal protection stops and a cemetery's own rules on outside headstones take over.
We don't sell caskets, headstones, or urns, and we're not a funeral home. When we point you to a specific seller, it's a company we've researched and would use ourselves.
